RMC (part4) - Ready Mix Concrete

On site the following information will be added:
  1. (a)  Time of arrival on site.
  2. (b)  Time when discharge was completed.
  3. (c)  Any water / admixture added by the supplier to meet the specified workability.
  4. (d)  Any extra water or admixture added at the request of representative and his
    signature.
  5. (e)  Pouring location.
  6. (f)  Signature of the purchaser or his representative confirming discharge of the load.
  1. 9)  Ready-mixed concrete shall be transported from the mixer/batching plant to the point of placing as rapidly as practicable by methods that will maintain the required workability and will prevent segregation, loss of any constituents or ingress of foreign matter or water. Concrete shall be transported in a truck-mixer or agitators unless agrees to the use of non-agitating vehicles.

  2. 10)  For the assessment of compliance of ready-mixed concrete, the sampling may be carried out jointly by  and the supplier with its frequency mutually agreed upon. However, it will not absolve the supplier of his responsibility from supplying concrete as per the requirements given in standards (IS 456:2000 and IS 4926:2003) or otherwise mutually agreed terms and conditions. Any special clause mentioned in this specification shall be binding on supplier of concrete. The point and time of sampling shall be at discharge from the producer’s delivery vehicle or point of final placement.

  3. 11)  Concrete mixes shall be randomly sampled and tested for workability, and where appropriate, plastic density, temperature and air content. Where significant variations from target values are detected, corrective action shall be taken.

  4. 12)  Concrete supplier shall submit the following information, reports and test certificates before approval of mix design and in the event of change of source of raw material:
  5. a) Source and brand of different ingredients of concrete,
  6. b) Gradation, specific gravity, water absorption, mechanical properties, deleterious material report of fine and coarse aggregate,
  7. c) Report on alkali silica reactivity and soundness of aggregates,
  8. d) MTC of cement/external test report,
  9. e) Chemical and physical test report of Fly ash as per requirements of IS 3812,
13)Concrete supplier shall submit the following information, reports and test certificates on a monthly basis:
14)Records shall be maintained by the producer to provide confirmation of the quality and quantity of concrete produced. The records shall be retained for the purposes of these requirements for a period of at least one year. They shall cover the following aspects:
    Production and delivery:
    (a) Batching instructions,

    (b) Batching records,
    (c) Delivery tickets, and
    (d) Equipment calibration and plant maintenance.

    Materials and production control:
    (a) Concrete production and materials purchase, usage and stocks, and (b) Certificates or test results for materials.

    Production quality control:
    (a) Control test results
    a) Change of Source and brand of different ingredients of concrete,
  10.  b) Correction of Mix design if required,
  11. c) Gradation, specific gravity and water absorption for each source of fine and coarse aggregate,
  12. d) MTC of cement or external test report,
  13. e) Physical test report of Fly ash – Fineness and LOI,
  14. f) MTC of each lot of admixture and uniformity test report,
  15. g) Water test report if source changes,
  16. h) Compressive strength results at 3,7 and 28 days for all the pours of concrete,
  17. i) batching plant calibration report.
  18. f) Physical and chemical test report of chemical admixture,
  19. g) Water test report for each source,
  20. h) Mix Design Stipulations and final mix data,
  21. i) Results of concrete mix design trials: Workability at 0, 1, 2, 3 Hrs., Cohesiveness, density, Yield of concrete, Initial and final setting time of concrete, strength results at 1,3,7,28,45 and 56 days.
